What is a scholarship?
Scholarships are funds for college that you don’t have to pay back. Capella Progress Rewards scholarships are not need based, so our eligible new and returning students and alumni are encouraged to apply. You invest in your future, we invest in your education. You may be able to transfer your credits* from another accredited university to your Capella degree program. Capella University makes credit transfer a straightforward process.
Complete no-cost online gen ed courses through our affiliate Sophia and apply your courses toward your degree at Capella*.
Student/Alumni Referral Scholarship »
Capella students and alumni have the opportunity to refer eligible friends, family or colleagues to Capella to pursue a degree with a scholarship.
Military benefits may be available in select programs and learning formats for service members, veterans, their spouses and dependents.
*All transfer and credit for prior learning must be completed prior to starting any program in the FlexPath format. Any professional certification or external courses taken concurrently with FlexPath enrollment cannot be recognized in the Capella degree program.

Capella Progress Reward scholarships FAQ
You must be a new or returning student or alum at Capella University, accepted into and enrolled in an eligible program in the GuidedPath or FlexPath learning format. Connect with us for more details.
Review the scholarship eligibility requirements, then complete the scholarship application and submit it before 11:59 p.m. Central Time the day courses begin. This application is separate from the application to enroll as a student. Your enrollment counselor can help you with any questions.
You can apply after you are accepted to Capella University and are enrolled in an eligible program and learning format. Apply no later than 11:59 p.m. Central Time the day courses begin. Questions? Contact your enrollment counselor.
- The Capella Progress Reward is intended to address the cost of attendance, including but not limited to tuition. Books, course materials, supplies, equipment and other fees apply. Travel expenses for residencies, practicum, etc., are not covered by the scholarship.
- The Capella Progress Reward may decrease the amount of funding that can be offered from other sources, such as federal financial aid.
- In some circumstances, Capella quarterly tuition may be lower than a quarterly disbursement. In other cases, recipients may complete their programs before they receive all quarterly disbursements. Under no circumstances will recipients be eligible for cash payment or other compensation for the value of unused disbursements.
