Learners are advised to carefully review, evaluate, and understand the requirements of the applicable licensing board in the state in which they intend to seek employment in a licensed profession. Capella provides direct disclosures of professional licensure outcomes to its learners based on the learner’s address on file with the University. Learners are responsible for keeping their contact information, including their address, accurate and current. Learners may update their contact information at any time on Campus or via Learner Support.

Professional licensing standards vary from state to state and relocating to another state may impact your ability to meet that state’s licensure requirements. Learners and graduates of Capella’s licensure programs should also be aware that some state-specific licensing board requirements cannot be fulfilled after degree conferral. Learners enrolled in a professional licensure program who are considering moving or working in another state should review the professional licensure disclosure for the state in which they intend to practice and discuss the state requirements with an enrollment specialist or academic advisor.

State professional licensing boards are responsible for determining whether an individual is eligible for licensure based on the rules and regulations in place at the time the learner submits their application for licensure. Capella University cannot guarantee that learners will be able to meet the requirements of a state’s licensure board.

Capella’s determination of the educational requirements for state licensure are based on its review of state licensing board requirements, however the decision to grant a license or certification is ultimately the purview of the state licensing board. Upon application, state licensing boards determine whether an academic program meets or partially meets educational requirements for licensure. It is your responsibility to understand and comply with the professional licensure requirements for your state.
