Meet IT leadership

Maja (Maya) Zelihic, PhD

Dean, School of Business, Technology, and Health Care Administration

Prior to accepting the role of Dean of the School of Business, Technology, and Health Care Administration, Dr. Zelihic most recently served as the Dean of the Forbes School of Business and Technology (FSBT) at the University of Arizona Global Campus. Her distinguished career is marked by a dedication to academic excellence, innovative leadership, and a commitment to fostering a culture of learning and inclusivity.

As Dean, Dr. Zelihic guided academic programs, designed new initiatives, ensured curriculum quality, and promoted faculty development. As Chair of the Forbes Board of Advisors, she facilitated collaboration between academia and industry experts and was instrumental in establishing the university’s first international partnership.

Dr. Zelihic’s extensive experience with accreditation bodies includes implementing quality strategies to meet requirements, managing quality audits, and enhancing teaching quality and the student learning experience. Additionally, she brings rich global experiences from her time as an Associate Faculty member at several universities, international partnerships, developing e-learning courses, and roles as a guest lecturer and adjunct professor at various international institutions.

Dr. Zelihic received her BA from the University of North Florida, holds a Master of Business Administration and a Master of Organizational Development and Leadership, and received her Doctor of Business from Capella University.

Melissa Zgola, EdD

Program Director, Information Technology and Computer Science

Dr. Zgola is an accomplished professional with a diverse educational and professional background. She holds a bachelor’s in psychology, a master’s in counseling, a master’s in information systems, and an EdD in Educational Leadership. With nearly 20 years of experience in educational leadership – primarily in IT disciplines and online programs – Dr. Zgola has honed the strategic, creative and technical skills essential for driving innovation in education. Her 15 years of teaching IT courses in both online and on-campus formats have given her an in-depth understanding of the challenges and opportunities in the field, allowing her to shape impactful learning experiences. Known for her thorough, ethical and hardworking approach, Dr. Zgola’s compassionate and personable nature complements her passion for advancing the technology industry and addressing gender and diversity disparities, further strengthening her leadership in IT education today.
