Credit for previous learning
Transfer credit and credit for prior learning (CPL) may be applicable toward your degree.
All transfer and CPL credit must be completed prior to starting any program in the FlexPath format. Any professional certification or external courses taken concurrently with FlexPath enrollment cannot be recognized in the Capella degree program.

Two online learning formats to fit your life
FlexPath
- Take one or two courses at a time
- Set your own deadlines. You can finish a course and move on to the next one without having to wait for a new term

GuidedPath
- Work on assignments with fixed weekly deadlines

Frequently asked questions
Applicants to the BS in Business program must provide the following information for admission:
- Admission application – no application fee required
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Transcript of any reported GED
- A valid, government-issued form of photo identification
- You must be at least 24 years old. This requirement may be waived for:
- Military applicants and veterans
- Applicants with 24 or more quarter credits of prior college or university coursework (transferable college coursework and/or credentials that map to preapproved Credit for Prior Learning opportunities may be considered toward the 24-credit minimum equivalency total)
- Applicants who do not have any credits eligible for transfer must successfully complete a university-approved reading and writing assessment; by evaluating your skills prior to your first course, Capella can more effectively provide resources to prepare you for a successful learning experience
- Applicants for our FlexPath self-paced learning option will be evaluated for admission with a holistic review; FlexPath applicants with a GPA of less than 2.8 (recommended minimum) may be required to submit additional documents for review; contact an enrollment counselor to learn more about the FlexPath admission requirements
SAT and ACT are not required for admission.
International and FlexPath applicants will be subject to additional admission requirements.

You can complete no-cost general education courses with our affiliate, Sophia Learning. Your enrollment counselor or academic coach can help you identify which Sophia courses are eligible to apply toward your bachelor’s degree. Courses are 100% online, so you can take them at your own pace whenever it’s convenient. Textbooks and other course materials aren’t required. Courses taken through Sophia don’t count toward federal financial aid eligibility. You’ll need to be enrolled in at least two courses at Capella to qualify for financial aid in a quarter.
The Capella BS in Business is a flexible, online business degree program designed to help you gain knowledge of the practical application of business fundamentals. Program specializations provide focus on the field you’ve chosen for your career. Skills are aligned with available specializations within business: Accounting, Management and Leadership, Health Care Management, Marketing, Business Administration, Finance, Human Resource Management, Project Management.

The FlexPath learning format offers flexibility – and support – to help you fit earning a degree into your busy life. Set your own deadlines. Use what you already know to progress at your own pace. And take advantage of one tuition fee every 12-week billing session to help lower costs. Books, supplies and other fees apply.
Compare that with our GuidedPath learning format, which offers structured learning with the flexibility of 24/7 access to the courseroom. Set deadlines help you stay focused and motivated. You’ll engage with peers for weekly discussion posts, and instructors provide regular check-ins and feedback on assessments. Tuition is billed on a pay-per-credit model for 10-week courses. So, you can plan out your degree to fit your schedule and budget.
The Bachelor of Science in Business is offered online exclusively. The program is available in our GuidedPath learning format, and select specializations within the program are available in our FlexPath learning format.
