The impact that Covid-19 is having on nurse leaders and nursing staff is unprecedented in modern times. Given the wide-ranging implications of nurses’ fear, nurses suffering from (and some dying from) the virus and the significant budget impacts of the virus such as loss of retirement match and mandatory leave, nurse leaders need the knowledge and skills to mitigate the moral distress in both themselves and their staff. This presentation will recognize the stressors inherent in the pandemic, offer exercises and opportunities to maximize trust in staff, and provide tips on evidence-based methods to mitigate stress and address the PTSD that literature has recognized in our nurse caregivers.
